More on “Low-Mowed Meadow”: Philadelphia Cricket Club

When PSPA went to the Lincoln Financial Field early this Spring, we were all amazed by the machines that to the striping for sports events. Our field trip to the Philadelphia Cricket Club on June 4, 2026 allowed us to see the next stage in turf management through the eyes of Dan Meersman and PSPA President Mike Fidanza…autonomous mowing. We saw mowers deployed on two golf courses where they do 80-100% of the fairway and green maintenance.

Dan and his crew showed us how the infrastructure has changed from a wire around the areas to be trimmed to wi-fi towers around the course to much more powerful signals needing less physical structures. Mike and his guests from Maryland and Pennsylvania added to the information offered by the folks at the Cricket Club…and, yes, they still play cricket there as well as a number of racquet and other sports.

Thanks to Dr. Mike for an excellent year introducing us to “low-mowed meadow”.
