Charles Thomson and Harriton House

Continuing the theme of America 250, PSPA members traveled to Harriton House in Bryn Mawr on May 7, 2026 to visit the home of Charles Thomson, one of founders of the PSPA. Thomson also know as the “Sam Adams of Philadelphia” was the Secretary of the four Continental Congresses…never misses a meeting.

He was the man who rode to Mt. Vernon to tell George Washington that GW was elected President.

After his public service, he retired to Harriton House where beekeeping became a part of his agricultural pursuits.
