Dr. Darryl Biery Receives Medal of the Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture

At a lunch gathering for the Agricultural Tour of Lancaster County on September 7, 2023, President Arland Hotchkis presented long-time member and PSPA leader Dr. Darryl Biery with the Gold Medal of Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture.  Biery has been a member since March 1988 and served many years on our Historical and Library Committee and as Vice-President from 1996-1998 and President in 1999-2000.

Professionally, he is a graduate of the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine, interned at the New York Animal Medical Center and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship and radiology residency at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Graduate School of Medicine. (1966-­1969). 

Upon Diplomate certification in the American College of Veterinary Radiology (1969), Dr. Biery stayed at the University of Pennsylvania for a career that spanned from 1970 as an assistant professor to 2002 as full professor as well as having a secondary appointment in the medical school’s Department of Radiology. In 2003, Dr. Biery became an emeritus professor of Veterinary Radiology in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

His academic career spanned three decades where he published scientific papers, book chapters and co-authored two textbooks.
