Josh McGrath Receives National Award

The American Society of Agronomy awarded its national Agronomic Education and Extension Award to PSPA member Dr. Joshua McGrath at its convention held in Austin, TX, for his outstanding contributions to agronomy through education, national and international service, and research.

MADISON, WI, Jun 12, 2019 – The American Society of Agronomy (ASA) announces the following 2019 award recipient to be formally presented at the ASA Awards Ceremony on 2019-11-12 during the scientific society’s Annual Meeting. The annual awards are presented for outstanding contributions to agronomy through education, national and international service, and research.

Joshua M. McGrath, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY – Agronomic Education and Extension Award:
Josh McGrath, associate professor at the University of Kentucky, has served as an extension specialist at UK (2014-present) and the University of Maryland (2006-2014), where he established an integrated research and extension program focused on developing, teaching, and implementing management practices that increase farm efficiency while protecting natural resources. He built his reputation through a robust on-farm, applied research program in cooperation with farmers. Dr. McGrath speaks throughout the U.S. and internationally and has served in leadership roles for both ASA and SSSA and as an Associate Editor for JEQ, SSSAJ, and, currently, AGE. Born and raised in Smyrna, Del., Dr. McGrath earned a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware; he conducted post-doctoral research at Virginia Tech. He enjoys spending time with his wife Kimberly and their dog Wendell, hunting, and fishing. He has been a volunteer firefighter for over 25 years.

Agronomic Education and Extension Award
The Agronomic Education and Extension Award recognizes excellence in education and/or extension. The award consists of a certificate, a complimentary ticket to the award ceremony, and $2,000.
