PA Department of Agriculture Recognizes PSPA for Work in Urban Agriculture

At the Pennsylvania Farm Show on January 15, 2026, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture recognized the Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture, particularly the Urban Agriculture Committee chaired by Dr. Tiffany Turrentine and Jessica McAtamney, for its collaboration with the Department in exploring a Conservation District for Philadelphia County (the only county in the Commonwealth without one). Turrentine and McAtamney were joined by President Mike Fidanza and Secretary Scott Sheely to receive the citation.

“In recognition of PSPA’s 240-year legacy teaching the art, science, and importance of sustainable agriculture.

Since 1785, the Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture has championed innovation, scientific research, and inter-generational learning across the Greater Philadelphia region.

Today, as we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States, PSPA continues its relevance by preparing future farmers, agriculturalists and environmentalists for a resilient and prosperous future.

In acknowledgment of PSPA’s historic mission —inspiring the next generation through its education committee’s work with FFA and MANRRS — we extend our highest appreciation.

Presented during the 110th Pennsylvania Farm Show, this 15th day of January, 2026″
