New Zealand’s Dominance in Dairy Hurts Its Currency

Dairy exports account for 28 percent of New Zealand’s foreign exchange. That is why the large recalls of New Zealand-produced baby formula in China and other countries caused the New Zealand dollar to decline on currency markets. According to Bloomberg, New Zealand’s dairy industry employs 45,000 people and 6.4 million cows.
