John M. Urbanchuk is Assistant Professor and Chair of the Agribusiness Department at Delaware Valley University. John is an agricultural economist with extensive academic and private sector experience in agricultural economics and policy analysis. Mr. Urbanchuk joined Delaware Valley University as full time faculty in January 2015 having previously served as an adjunct faculty teaching Agricultural Prices and Managerial Economics. Prior to joining DelVal John was an adjunct professor in the Food Marketing Department at St. Joseph’s University where he taught international marketing, Russia and Eastern Europe in the global marketplace, industrial policy and emerging markets. In addition to teaching at DVU and St. Joseph’s John has lectured at Penn State, Purdue, Ohio State, Iowa State, University of Delaware, University of Missouri, Budapest University and the U.S. Army JFK Institute for Military Assistance.

 

In addition to teaching John is Managing Partner and Principal of Agriculture and Biofuels Consulting LLP where he provides a broad range of economic and policy analysis consulting services to organizations involved in production agriculture, biofuels, and the equine industry. John has extensive experience in the economics of biofuels, agriculture, the food industry, and economic impact and cost benefit analysis. Mr. Urbanchuk is involved in examining the economic feasibility and economic impact of second generation biofuel feedstocks including sweet sorghum, cellulosic and other potential feedstocks for ethanol and waste fats, greases and oils for biodiesel production. Mr. Urbanchuk also provides expert economic testimony for litigation. He was a testifying expert regarding the ethanol industry on behalf of ExxonMobil and other oil company defendants for the MTBE product liability MDL litigation. John also has testified as an expert in patent infringement litigation for GMO products and seed technology in corn, soybeans, and cotton.

 

Prior to founding ABF Economics and joining Delaware Valley University Mr. Urbanchuk was Technical Director – Environmental Economics for Cardno ENTRIX; a Director with LECG LLC, Executive Vice President for AUS Consultants, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist for Hill and Knowlton, Inc., Vice President with Wharton Econometrics (now Global Insight), and Manager-Economic Research for Campbell Soup Company. Mr. Urbanchuk holds a B.S. in economics from Penn State University, an M.A. in economics from Temple University, and has completed course requirements for the Ph.D. John is a retired Army Officer, Vietnam veteran, and graduate of the U.S. Army Foreign Area Officer Program as a specialist in Eurasia. In this capacity he served as Desk Officer for Russia and Eastern Europe on the Army Staff in Washington. John was nominated as a candidate to the Steering Committee of the High Level Panel of Experts on food security and nutrition (HLPE) for the UN/FAO.
