PSPA member, Dr. Scott Sheely, will present a timely topic at the March 5th meeting at the Union League on the current state of ag workforce challenges.
Across the country, the agriculture and food industry is in the midst of an extreme workforce shortage that threatens the future of what is one of the largest industry in PA and the US. Dr. Sheely will talk about the challenges in keeping career pathways full so that we have the qualified workforce that we need. Those challenges include the role of technology in raising the bar for education and training, keeping the four generations that are now at work in the ag and food workforce collaborative and production, and finding ways to integrate guest workers in larger numbers in the production workforce.
