Carpenters’ Hall, in Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the official birthplace of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a key meeting place in the early history of the United States. It was the first meeting place of the Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture.
Completed in 1775, the two-story brick meeting hall was built for and is still privately owned by the Carpenters’ Company of the City and County of Philadelphia, the country’s oldest extant craft guild. PSPA Member Tom Stokes, the archivist for the Hall, will be offering an enhanced tour of the Hall. PSPA will be unveiling its America 250 Philadelphia project during the field trip.
Lunch is across the street from the Hall. The Museum of the American Revolution is nearby and a great add-on while in the Historic Area.
