Citrus Greening Disease Threatens World Citrus Crop

A relatively new disease is threatening to wipe out Florida’s citrus crop and poses a longer-term threat to citrus around the world. Caused by a bacterium spread by an insect known as the Asian citrus psyllid, the greening disease often does not show up until trees have been infected for years after which the leaves fall off and the fruit fails to mature. California and many countries around the world are suffering from infestations.
