For this program, we are headed back to the Union League with registration opening at 11:30 am followed by lunch at noon. The Union League requires that persons attending programs in their facility come prepared to prove that they are vaccinated or entry will be denied.
In a special presentation before the lectures and panel discussion begin, Dr. Carl Brown, Chair, Education Committee, will host Mrs. Barbara Winter as she presents the Dr. Fred Winter Horticultural Scholarship from PSPA to Yahel Ben-Zvi of Rutgers University (East Brunswick, NJ) and Maryland native Meghan Bundick of West Virginia University (Morgantown, WV). They will each receive $1,000 to pursue their research and career plans.
Program begins immediately after the presentation with a brief review on the size of animal agriculture in the region (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania) and segues to a panel of experts providing an overview of the changes that are happening in the livestock, poultry, and dairy segments of the industry, particularly because of the supply chain adjustments that occurred over the last two years.
Speakers include Steve Connelly, Assistant Secretary for Marketing, Animal Industries, and Consumer Services, Maryland Department of Agriculture; Holly Porter, Delmarva Poultry Association; and Jayne Sebright, Center for Dairy Excellence. Dr. Scott Sheely, President of PSPA, will moderate.
