Campbell’s Soup was a major contributor to the work of the PSPA in the later part of the 20th century as its commitment to agriculture as well as one of the most recognizable food brands internationally.
On November 2, 2023, Scott Hearn, Corporate Archivist, reviewed the history of the company and the strategic decisions over the years that let to Campbell becoming one of the largest food manufacturers in the US. Ryan Vroegindewey, Senior Manager of Sustainable Agriculture, discussed the close relationship that Campbell’s Soup has had with agriculture (and PSPA) since its founding by a produce merchant and commercial canner/packer in 1869, including the company’s work to promote sustainable agriculture in its operations today.
