October Meeting Features Fran and Mark Fischer from Castle Valley Mill

The October meeting of the Society will clearly highlight this year’s program theme, “Value-added Agriculture”. The team (Fran and Mark Fischer) from Castle Valley Mill (a restored 18th century mill producing authentically stone ground, whole grain products) will share about their entrepreneurial efforts in the arena of specialized, local grain milling.  Grains are commodities traded in bulk throughout the world, but when converted to specialized products highlighting the local provenance of the grain, their value to discriminating consumers adds positive economic impacts throughout the supply chain. Come to the October meeting and get a picture of how Pennsylvania and its region are supplying the raw materials for a traditional, yet very modern, form of value-added agriculture.
