The June 7, 2018, Society meeting (last of the program year!) at the Union League of Philadelphia is coming soon!  Our very own Monika Crosby, Assistant Manager for Food Acquisition at Philabundance, will bring her infectious enthusiasm to round out our year. Please make it a point to register early and come out to support the work of Philabundance to bring food to those who need it the most.

 

Who does Philabundance serve?

Philabundance serves 90,000 low-income people each week, 30% of whom are children and 16% are seniors. Among those served are the working class, students, veterans and single parents.

More about Monika Crosby

Monica Crosby is the Assistant Manager for Food Acquisition for Philabundance. Working cross functionally with the Food Acquisition team to coordinate, implement & support donation & purchasing activities. Our team is responsible for procuring over 30 million pounds of donations to support Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization. By working collaboratively to maintain & build new relations with farmers, vendors, packers & donors to ensure a steady flow of product to the food bank.

  • Project Manager of produce initiatives such as the Produce Market rescue, gleaning over ½ Million pounds of produce
  • Assist/Oversee the procurement of all locally sourced produce
  • Purchase produce & communicate daily with vendors to ensure proper distribution & price negotiation
  • Assist with annual planning & budget building
  • Conduct monthly program reports, analyze donor data
  • Train & mentor interns & administrative personnel for department
