SUMMARY:"Climate Matters: Nationally and Locally"
DESCRIPTION:Introduced by 2024-2025 President Jessica McAtamney\n\nWithout
a doubt\, climate change is affecting every part of agriculture from the g
rowing season to the resilience of crops to the way that we pursue animal
agriculture.  This program offers an overview of those issues in Pennsylv
ania and a practitioner’s view of the challenges raising cattle in the e
xtremes of Texas.  Lunch is included.\n\n In Pennsylvania and Philadelph
 ia…\n\nMichael Sklaroff\, Executive Director\, Pennsylvania Bipartisan C
limate Initiative\n\nThe Initiative is working to encourage local Pennsylv
ania officials at all levels of government to implement climate action pla
ns that put the ERA front and center in their comprehensive planning. The
Initiative supports Drexel University’s Environmental Collaboratory in t
heir work to curate best practices for communities throughout Pennsylvania
\, especially those that have been historically underserved.\n\nIn the
 industry nationally…\n\nMeredith Ellis\, G Bar C Ranch is an award-winni
ng 2nd generation rancher in Rosston\, TX.  Working alongside her father\
, GC Ellis and ranch manager\, Mike Knabe\, they manage 200 mother cows on
3000 acres of land which Meredith lovingly refers to as her “national p
ark.” She passionately believes in ranching’s ability to provide nutri
tious food to a growing population while leaving habitat and natural ecosy
stems intact.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nLocation\n\nThe Union League of Philadelphia\n
