Society & Friends Set to Visit Mt. Vernon

The Society invites all members, guests and friends of agriculture to join what promises to be a great spring outing to Mt. Vernon. President Washington was an honorary member of the Society and a life-long agricultural innovator. The trip will highlight the agricultural importance of Mt. Vernon as a site of early innovations. This springtime date will allow us a very satisfying trip to our first President’s farm. The new exhibition that we will be seeing, “Garden and Groves,” will highlight Washington’s design of the Mt Vernon landscape. And because it’s springtime we should be able to see more of Pioneer Farm, a site of four-acres that contains a replica of Washington’s 16-sided treading barn.
